The most common calligraphy request is to have wedding envelopes hand-lettered. In deed, even though you are free to do whatever you like with your invitations, addressing them by hand is generally considered the polite and respectful thing to do.

(The idea is that since your guests are taking time out of their schedules to join with you on your big day, often travelling far to get there and bringing you gifts, you want to show that they are worth the time it takes for you to personally address their invitation.)

On a design note- the envelope is the first thing they'll see- so make it as fabulous as the rest of the invitation!

Your return address, response cards, and response envelopes

are usually pre-printed by your local printer in a standard font. But if you like, you can have them custom-designed just like the invitations! Once one template is hand-lettered, the rest can be printed to match it.
