Here is some information and tips for handling your invitations...
How to Order Wedding Invitations
Guidelines and Tips
* Send out invitations so that your guests receive them 6-8 weeks before the date of the event.
* Set your RSVP date as 2-3 weeks before the date of the event. You will need time to gather late responses and to get head counts in to your vendors.
* Think about postage before you order materials:
* Many standard invitation sizes require extra postage. If cost is a concern for you, make sure your materials will meet regular postage rate requirements.
* Take into account that you will have multiple pieces in your invitation so the weight, and thus postage, may increase.
* Don't forget, you will need stamps for your response card envelopes as well as your outer envelopes.
* Always order extra invitation materials. You will need them. Your calligrapher will ask for extras as well.
* Use a coding system for your response cards so that you will know who is responding when you receive blank cards back in the mail- it happens. You may also receive cards back with no return address, or with a name on it that you do not recognize. A simple way to code cards is to put a little number on the back of the card in small print, and put the same number next to that guest's name on your master list. Then if you receive a card back that doesn't make sense, you will be able to tell who the mystery guest is easily.
